THERE IS MORE TO YOUR STORY

NEARLY 40% OF ONLINE PORNOGRAPHY IS CONSUMED BY WOMEN. YET FOR TOO LONG, WOMEN’S STORIES HAVE BEEN OVERLOOKED, MISUNDERSTOOD, OR LEFT UNHEARD.

Behind every woman who struggles with pornography or other unwanted sexual behaviors is a story worth understanding. Those behaviors are often forms of sexual coping—not the root problem. They are symptoms of something deeper. Her story may be shaped by unmet emotional needs, attachment wounds, trauma, shame, or distorted beliefs about identity.

Inspired by her own story and informed by the stories of thousands of women, Crystal Renaud Day draws on nearly two decades of ministry, coaching, counseling, and original research to help readers understand the emotional, relational, identity, trauma, and spiritual drivers behind women’s sexual struggles.

Integrating insights from psychology, neuroscience, attachment theory, trauma-informed care, and Christian faith, she offers a compassionate, practical guide to lasting healing and wholeness.

Whether you are personally struggling with pornography or other unwanted sexual behaviors, supporting someone you love, or serving women as a counselor, coach, pastor, or ministry leader, this book will help you see beyond the behavior, understand what drives the behavior, and discover that there’s more to the story.

THERE WAS MORE TO HER STORY

Praise for WDWTP

Long recognized as a pioneer in helping women break free from pornography, Crystal Renaud Day takes her work to a new level in What Drives Women to Porn? By helping women understand the deeper why behind their behavior, she offers a compassionate and practical path toward lasting healing—not simply sobriety. Just as importantly, she shows women how to move beyond shame and secrecy by empowering them to take responsibility for their healing and gain new insights about themselves. This is an excellent resource for women seeking genuine healing.
—Dr. Eddie Capparucci, Author of Going Deeper: How the Inner Child Impacts Your Sexual Addiction

I have had the honor to work in the recovery space with Crystal for over a decade and her hard work, expertise, and heart for women really shines through in this book. Not only does she help answer the common question of why women can be drawn into pornography, she also provides practical, actionable steps for freedom, recovery, and healing. This is a beautiful roadmap for a woman in her journey from struggle through to living a healed and abundant life.”
—Jessica (Harris) Cerula, Author of Quenched: Discovering God’s Abundant Grace for Women Struggling with Pornography and Sexual Shame

Many women struggling with pornography carry not only the behavior itself, but also confusion, shame, and unanswered questions about why the pattern keeps returning. In What Drives Women to Porn?, Crystal Renaud Day compassionately explores the emotional, relational, nervous-system, and spiritual forces beneath unwanted sexual behavior. Drawing from personal experience, clinical insight, and Christian faith, she very thoughtfully gives women language for their stories and offers a hopeful path from secrecy and shame toward connection, integration, and lasting healing.

SHE Summit 2026

WDWTP represents years of experience, research, and walking closely with women in their stories. It answers the question many have been asking—but haven’t had language for: Why do I keep struggling, even when I want to stop?

And just weeks later, we will bring this message to life through SheRecovery’s next SHE Summit.

Over five days (October 19–23, 2026), we will move beyond behavior-focused conversations and explore the deeper drivers shaping women’s experiences. Each day will focus on one of five core drivers as outlined in WDWTP. Throughout this 5-day virtual event, experts and storytellers will share their insight, experience, and hope for meaningful, lasting healing.

The SHE Summit is for women in every stage of their journey. But it is also for the Helper—counselors, coaches, ministry leaders, and advocates—who want a deeper, more accurate understanding of women’s experiences so they can support others more effectively.
